TECHSPEC Beamsplitter Compensation Plates are designed to equalize the optical path length in systems using plate beamsplitters at a 45° angle of incidence. Manufactured from precision fused silica, these windows ensure both transmitted and reflected beams experience the same material thickness, preserving phase integrity and wavefront quality. When paired with TECHSPEC λ/10 Plate Beamsplitters, compensation plates help minimize dispersion and maintain high interference contrast in demanding optical systems. TECHSPEC Beamsplitter Compensation Plates feature a 30 arcmin wedge to minimize internal interference and back reflections making these compensators are an excellent choice for precision applications. These compensator plates are ideal for interferometry, metrology, and spectroscopy applications requiring precise beam path matching.

When used in Michelson and other interferometers, beamsplitters can cause small differences in optical path length and dispersion due to their thickness. Compensation plates can correct for this difference and are especially useful in broadband systems. When selecting a compensation plate, the compensation plate should be of the same substrate and thickness as the beamsplitter used to ensure the correct adjustment in path length.
